Too many funerals

I broke a record this year. And it's certainly not something to be proud of either. 2018 took me to more funerals than any other. There was an unexpected passing of my very healthy uncle. We had a gut-wrenching overdose on my mother's side of the family. One of my best friends lost his father, who was one of the greatest men you'd ever meet.

Jeffrey Lee Cole died peacefully at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland Mississippi on November 20, 2018. He was 89 years old. He was visited frequently by friends and family until he finally slipped away after a brief fight with cancer. He professed his firm belief in his savior Jesus Christ and is now with his Lord in paradise.

On July 26, 1988, 72-year-old Annie Lauren Hearin, a prominent Jackson socialite and wife of one of the state’s wealthiest businessmen, went missing from her Jackson home where she had hosted a bridge club party earlier in the day.

Frances Anne Fortner was driving along Ridgewood Road around 1:30 p.m., when she hit a manhole cover and her car flipped, according to Precinct Four Cmdr. Keith Freeman.

The vigil will be at 7 p.m., on the school's campus.
