This week, around the Barnett Reservoir, Suncoast Infrastructure, Inc. are smoke testing their sewer lines. The areas that are expected to be tested are: Woodlake, Windrose, Lakeshore Town Homes, YMCA, Timberlake Campground, Windward Bluff, Village Square, Riverchase, and Barnett Bend.
The testing involves blowing colored smoke into the sewer to detect broken lines and other defects. The smoke will exit through vent pipes on the roofs of buildings. The smoke is non-toxic, leaves no residue and does not create a fire hazard. Smoke should not enter structures unless there is defective plumbing, or the plumbing traps are dry. By the advice of Pearl River Valley Water Supply, to help ensure that smoke will not enter homes or business, pour one gallon of water into any seldom used drains.
