Joseph Ross Dotson was born in Camp Blanding, FL on November 30, 1944 and died peacefully in his sleep on August 23, 2020 in Ridgeland, MS.
Joe grew up in Troy, AL and graduated from Charles Henderson High School in 1963. He graduated from Auburn University in 1967 with a B.S. in Economics, and he received his MBA in Finance from Georgia Southern University in 1971.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Wheeler Dotson (“Big Joe”) and Elaine Reddoch Dotson of Troy, AL. He is survived by his son Kevin Ross Dotson (Anna) of Madison, MS and his three grandchildren, Emma Rose, Andrew Ross and Ella Marie Dotson, his brother Alan Dotson (Ellie) and their two children Matt Dotson (Lindsey) and Lauren Crandall (Franklin) and great nephews and nieces, and his loving companion and fiancé, Karen Ashker and her family.
Joe served as a Captain in the military in the Army from 1968-1971. He served in Vietnam from 1969-1970 as a Huey helicopter pilot on rescue missions. He worked at Merrill Lynch for over 35 years before retiring. He loved his family, photography, playing a guitar, fly fishing and hunting.
