Miss Wegener and Brown planning to exchange wedding vows on December 28
Dr. and Mrs. Eric Edward Wegener announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Kathryn, to Dr. James Turner Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jeffrey Brown.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Cecil Johnson Jr. of Meridian and the late Dr. and Mrs. Glenn Lee Wegener of Clarksdale. The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Byrd Lamar Payne, Mrs. Robert Dale Brown and the late Mr. Brown, all of Jackson.
Miss Wegener is a 2012 honors graduate of Jackson Preparatory School and was graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences. At Ole Miss, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority where she served as an executive officer. She is currently in her fourth year of medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where she serves as secretary for her class and was selected as most valuable student by her peers. She plans to pursue a career in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Brown is a 2008 honors graduate of Jackson Preparatory School where he was chosen as Mr. Senior Class and as a member of the Hall of Fame. He was graduated summa cum laude from Mississippi College in 2012, where he was selected as a member of the Hall of Fame. He received his medical doctorate from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2016 and is currently in his fourth year of orthopaedic surgery training in Jackson with plans to complete an adult hip and knee reconstruction fellowship at the conclusion of his residency training.
The couple will be married December 28 at Christ United Methodist Church, with reception to follow at The Country Club of Jackson. They plan to make their home in Jackson.
