Madison-Ridgeland Academy and Jackson Prep will be sitting at home tonight, after having to cancel games due to COVID-19.
On September 18, Prep was slated to take on Lamar School, while MRA was scheduled to play Philadelphia High School.
However, MRA and Prep after outbreaks were reported at Lamar and Philadelphia, officials with the schools said.
"Lamar School experienced COVID issues at their school and it caused us to not host the game as a result," said Prep Director of Communications Ryan Sherman.
MRA also was slated to take on Bay Springs High School on September 25, but that game too has been canceled, due to COVID, head coach Herbert Davis said.
Said Davis, “It stinks to lose two home games.”
Madison-Ridgeland, instead, will be traveling to North Mississippi to take on the Warriors of Corinth High School.
Corinth is the reigning MHSAA Class 4A champ, while MRA is the defending MAIS Class 6A champion.
“We’re ready to play. It will be a good test for us.”
Prep and MRA were going into the games undefeated.
