WHAT: Officials will break ground on the Museum to Market multi-use path.
WHERE: The ceremony will be held at the southern end of the Mississippi Farmers Market, near the intersection of North Jefferson Street and Mississippi Street.
WHEN: Tuesday, July 14, at 3 p.m.
WHY: The Museum to Market Trail project includes construction of approximately 2.14 miles of either new multi-use path or replacement sidewalk from the Mississippi Farmers Market on High Street to the Mississippi Children’s Museum on Highland Drive. An abandoned railway will be converted to a compliant 10-foot wide multi-use path from Spengler Street to Laurel Street. The project includes a new pedestrian bridge over a creek. The project was awarded to Hemphill Construction for $1,579,850.00.
The project was funded in part by the Federal Highway Administration and the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
