Zoo to stay open, city approves allocation

The Jackson City Council voted today to allocate $200,000 to the Jackson Zoological Society. The funds will be used to help the society meet current expenses. Funds were awarded at a meeting this morning, after learning that the zoo would have to close its doors on August 16, because it couldn't make ends meet.
