Jackson, MS – Bobbie Lou Wilson Mayo, age 84, of Jackson, MS passed away peacefully at Baptist Hospital, Jackson, MS on Sunday, January 10, 2021 from complications due to Covid-19.
She was born in Cerulean, KY on December 12, 1936, and was the daughter of Alford Wilton Wilson of Cerulean, KY and Robbie Huel Cortner Wilson of Caldwell County, KY.
In 1964, she married General John O. Mayo, Jr. (Ret) at Cadiz Baptist Church in Cadiz, KY.; they were married for 25 years until their divorce in 1989. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, MS, where she sang with the Senior Adult Reflections Choir.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Billy Wilson and Robbie Wilson of Cadiz, KY; and her little sister, Patsy Jean Wilson. She is survived by her son Hal Mayo (Jenn) of Hoover, AL, as well her step-daughter Debbie Mayo of Florence, MS and step-son Johnny Mayo of Mint Hill, NC.
Due to Covid-19 concerns, a Celebration of Life Memorial will be held in Jackson, MS at a later date. A private graveside service will be held when she is interred at Wall Cemetery in Wallonia, KY with her parents and sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Jackson, MS, or a charity of one’s choice.
