Kenneth Leroy Lundquist

Kenneth Leroy Lundquist passed away peacefully Saturday, January 16, 2021, at home in Jackson, MS at the age of 83. Kenneth was born in Jackson, MS on March 13, 1937, to the late Roy and Wahweece Grantham Lundquist. He graduated from Central High School in Jackson, MS in 1955, earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Mississippi College in 1959, and a master’s degree in history from Mississippi College in 1963.  In July 1969, he married Mary Belle Spivey of Water Valley, MS.

Kenneth served as the Business Administrator for First Baptist Church of Jackson, MS for 25 years. He was actively involved in the National Association of Church Business Administrators and the Southern Baptist Church Business Administration Association and was inducted into the Hall of Fame of these organizations in 2004 and 2005, respectively.  In 2003, he was awarded the Taylor Daniel Award of Merit by the Southern Baptist Business Officers Conference for his outstanding contributions to Baptist business.  He was previously a teacher and guidance counselor at Provine High School for 11 years and Director of Secondary Personnel for the Jackson Public Schools for 8 years.  He dedicated his life to serving God by serving others in multiple capacities.  His kindness, wisdom, and wit will be greatly missed.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Belle; his son, Charlie (Lisa) Lundquist of Smyrna, GA; daughter, Laura Lundquist of Ridgeland, MS; and granddaughters, Charlotte and Madeline Lundquist.

A celebration of life will be held, Friday, January 22, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Jackson at 1:00PM in the Sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Annie Armstrong Missions Offering at First Baptist Church of Jackson, MS. 

Due to COVID 19 pandemic, masks are required and social distancing will be mandated.

Sebrell Funeral Home is entrusted with handling arrangements.
