Rock for recovery

The Country and Blues Rock for Recovery will take place from 6:30-9:30 p.m. October 17, at Duling Hall in Fondren. The alcohol-free event will benefit the McCoy House for Sober Living in Jackson. Music will be presented by The Patrick Harkins Band. The event will feature a silent auction and food.

Americans made their way to the polls last week to have their voices heard in the midterm election.

Iva Dee Bondurant, a 102-year-old resident of Ridgeland, was no different, as she said taking part in the election was her civic duty.

Parsons and Hughes celebrate marriage October 6 in Nashville at Cheekwood Estate

The celebration and blessing of the marriage of Virginia Nell Parsons and Paul Jarlath Hughes was held at 5 p.m. on  October 6 at Cheekwood Estate and Gardens in Nashville.

The bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Parsons of Jackson. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Jarlath Hughes of Galway, Ireland.

Stan Buckley on But God Ministries

Stan Buckley is founder and director of But God Ministries in Ridgeland. The Madison resident started the group in 2011, around the time he stepped down as pastor of First Baptist Church of Jackson. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and received his Juris Doctorate from the Mississippi College School of Law.
