Mock trial

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School’s 2018-19 Mock Trial team competed in the Jackson Regional Mock Trial Competition. The team won both rounds of the tournament in which they competed at the Mississippi College School of Law. In addition to the team success, there were several team members who won individual awards for their performances.

Airport land annexation hearing scheduled Jan. 24; two cities want property

The first scheduled hearing in the annexation case involving the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport is slated for January 24.

Two cities, Flowood and Pearl, are attempting to annex land surrounding Jackson-Evers, in what city of Jackson officials call a “tax grab.”


Ridgeland’s farmers’ market slated to end in December extended because of success

The city of Ridgeland’s weekly farmers’ market, True Local Market, has been extended into the new year.

True Local Market began in October and was expected to run through the end of December 2018. However, due to the success of the market, it will continue.

Dedicated to Football

Markell Young is so dedicated to football, he’s going to start running track.

When track season begins, the Ridgeland Titans’ leading running back will be running track, mainly because he wants to get better at football.


Honor Code

Outreach

The Rotary Club of North Jackson recently welcomed Anne LeBreton, outreach coordinator for Mississippi Blood Services as its speaker. LeBreton thanked the club for their past support and explained the need to donate blood.


Team awards

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School’s football team held its end-of-year banquet to celebrate a winning season that saw the Saints advance to the 3A playoffs for just the second time in school history.
