A conversation with Suzannah Britt on Hospice Ministries

Hospice Ministries of Central Mississ-ippi celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Suzannah Britt, the group’s executive director, has worked in various roles with the nonprofit, and recently reflected on the group in an interview with the Sun. Britt is a graduate of Co-Lin Community College and the University of Southern Mississi-ppi.

Lane Spell Rosson

Lane Spell Rosson, 74, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at home in Ridgeland, MS, surrounded by friends and family including her son, Bert Rosson Jr., her sister, Suzanne Case of McComb and niece Rebecca Case Lawler of New Orleans.

Ann Reese McDonnieal

Ann Reese McDonnieal of Jackson passed away on August 29, 2019. Visitation will be held at noon on September 4 with the funeral following at 2:00 p.m. at Northminster Baptist Church. The daughter of Raymond Leslie Reese and Mary Eunice Barton Reese, Ann McDonnieal was born in Ruston, Louisiana in 1927.



Citizenship Award

Kinkead Dent

Kinkead Dent, Jackson Academy senior, signed to play college football at the University of Mississippi at a ceremony held in early December. Dent is the son of Carolyn and John Dent.

Charles Devin Hewitt “Hobbie”

Charles Devin Hewitt, “Hobbie”, a resident of Jackson, MS passed away at Baptist Medical Center on Friday September 6, 2019 at the age of 60.  A Memorial service was held at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon at 10am on Thursday, September 12, 2019.  Visitation was at 9am until service time.

Dog Days of Summer

Short as the walk that ends the night                 

“You’re a good girl. Now behave yourself.” 

I tighten the leash, stop a moment to catch my breath, bend over and pet the dog.  “We should be able to finish our walk, then I have some things to take care of before I, ‘make it to the church on time,’” I hum.


Alaina Liess

Alaina Liess, a senior at  St. Joseph Catholic School, has been named a STAR student for the 2018-2019 school year. Susie Odom, English teacher, has been named a STAR teacher.
