City spending millions on problems involving Siemens contract

The city of Jackson has spent close to $3 million since last April to address problems associated with the Siemens contract.

Now, the city is trying to recoup those costs and much more.

The Lumumba administration recently filed suit against the firm and some of its subcontractors seeking $225 million in damages.

Honor society inductees

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School’s Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 60 new members this year into the organization. The National Honor Society recognizes and fosters academic achievement, character, service, and leadership in secondary school students across the nation.


New Eagle Scout

Bennett Herring (center) was recognized for earning his Eagle Scout rank at Troop 8’s Court of Honor at First Baptist Church of Jackson. For his Eagle project he constructed raised vegetable garden boxes for the McCoy House. He is shown with his parents Joel and Susan Herring.

Madison Central High School biomedical research students listened to a discussion lead by guest speaker Mark Chmielewski on patient data security. PGA Junior match

The Country Club Of Jackson Gators prevailed over the Reunion Golf & Country Club’s Reunion Rush on their final match this year for the PGA Junior League.  Reunion hosted the match. PGA Junior League is about the recreational and developmental nature of regular season matches.

Cathy Haynie, head of school at Christ Covenant School, is serving JAAIS (Jackson Area Association of Independent Schools) as president this year. JAAIS is an organization serving approximately 20 schools in the greater Jackson area.
