Beemon Drugs closing

Beemon Drugs Owner Lester Hailey has announced that the iconic North Jackson drug store will be closing on June 25. 

A notice was posted at the Maywood Mart institution today. 

The store, which has been a staple on the Northside for years, is known for providing home delivery of medications to customers. 








Riverside project stymied by lack of funding and unforeseen issues

Four years after it was approved by Jackson’s one-percent oversight commission, the Riverside Drive Reconstruction Project has yet to get off the drawing board.

Part of the reason is the city is still determining how to pay for it. Part of it is the second phase might require more work than initially expected.

The Annandale Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution met recently at the Country Club of Jackson.  Robin Person with the Mississippi Department of Archives and History presented a program entitled “The History of the American Flag”.  Annandale members Mary Manning and Mary Sue Mosby presented Robin with a subscription to the American Spir

Exceeds Projections

More than 240,000 people have visited the Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum since opening on December 9, 2017. State tourism officials had projected 180,000 visits for the two museums in their first year in operation.

The Rotary Club of North Jackson recently honored Officer Jeremy Jefferson from the Jackson Police Department as the Officer of the Quarter. Officer Jefferson was recognized for his quick actions in capturing a suspect who wounded another officer.
