Construction continues despite weather delays on St. Dominic’s project

A major expansion at St. Dominic Hospital continues to move forward, despite the area’s unusually wet weather.

Construction is about one-fourth complete on a project that will essentially double the size of the hospital’s emergency department. The project is expected to wrap up late in the summer of 2021.

Hole in One

The Sanderson Farms Championship is under way, and even for the casual golf fan, the tournament has a lot to offer.

The tournament runs through September 22 at the Country Club of Jackson and features some of the biggest names in professional golf.

Softball champs

Mississippi Motion ’02 won the 16U Softball National Championship by winning the USSSA National Championship Tournament in Fort Walton Beach. Teams from across the country participated in the tournament. Motion ’02 went 6-1 in bracket play defeating the St. Louis Pirates in a championship game thriller 7-6.


Support singers

The Jag Singers Booster Club is getting ready for the 2019-20 season with several events in the works. This organization supports Reveille and Radiance Show Choirs, the Madrigal Singers, and the chamber choirs of Madison Central and Rosa Scott High Schools.

Spirit of Finale

Jackson Academy Middle School students (from left) Sarah Breydon Moulder and Micah Wallace received the school’s Spirit of Finale award for 2018-2019. The award recognizes a sixth grade girl and boy who are members of Finale Show Choir and display a positive attitude that reflects loyalty to the group and encouragement to others.


Coach correspondence

Rotary newest member

Gary Moulder (center) was recently in-ducted as the newest member of the Madison-Ridgeland Rotary Club. Moulder joins his wife, Sharon, (right) who has been a club member since 2009 and recently completed a term as club president. Shown with them is charter member Ann Barnes (left).


Chorus members

Madison Middle School presented “Aladdin, Jr.”  as their fall schoolwide musical.  Students were chosen by audition for roles as the cast and dancers. Sixth-grade choir students sang as the chorus, while others assisted with sets, and former students served as crew.


Chapel to build new worship space

Chapel of the Cross will  break ground for a new worship space April 14.  At 10 a.m. on Palm Sunday the parish will gather to offer prayers, thanksgivings, and music in front the construction site. The site is located behind the current chapel at 674 Mannsdale Rd. A light reception will be offered on site immediately following.

Start the day

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School recently celebrated Homecoming 2018. The day’s festivities began as football players, cheerleaders and dancers greeted Early Childhood Center and Lower School students at carpool and visited classrooms. Shown are (from left) Alex Waan and David Caddle.

 


Eagle Scouts

At a recent Troop 1 Eagle Court of Honor the following Scouts were awarded the Rank of Eagle (from left) Will Fletcher, Dixon Hughes, Noah Berry, Grant Hughes, Clayton Mahaffey, Gibson Cheney. Troop 1, chartered in 1916, is beginning its 103rd year of scouts.
