Legal fees growing for taxpayers in state’s attempt to takeover airport

More than three years after the suit was filed, legal fees continue to mount up for taxpayers in the Jackson airport takeover case.

The city and the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) filed suit to stop the state from implementing SB 2162, the measure commonly referred to as the airport takeover bill.

CELEBRATE FOUNDING

Jackson alumnae members of the national Alpha Chi Omega collegiate sorority recently met for a luncheon to celebrate the founding of the fraternity in 1885. Alpha Chi Omega currently has more than 280 alumnae chapters across the United States and is a member of the National Panhellenic Conference.


Good Samaritan

Veronica Herrin, director of volunteer services and case manager at The Good Samaritan Center, recently spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson. Herrin told about the different services and events the non-profit social service organization offers. The Rotary Club of North Jackson meets at noon on Tuesdays at The Rickhouse.


Coaching

Rotary Club of Jackson met recently at Sparkman Auditorium at the ag museum. Julian Watson introduced speaker, Coach Joe Moorhead, head football coach at Mississippi State University.

Friends of the USA International Ballet Competition annual membership party will be held Thursday, November 15, 6 to 8 p.m. in the home of Rob and Phoebe Pearigen. William J. Hardin

William J. “Bill” Hardin, MD, passed away October 9 at the age of 81, after a battle with cancer.  He was born July 4, 1937 in Jackson, son of the late James W.
