Marion Farrar’s life has included serving as PTA president to sheriff in the past 100 years.

Since her birth in 1919, Marion Farrar has had a lot of titles including mom, wife, friend, grandmother and, for a time, Sheriff.




History could help future

I sat alone in my study carefully sifting through an assortment of stone artifacts I have accumulated over decades of walking fields and inspecting crops. Each specimen holds within, a history of Native American which is bound by the walls of knapped flint and chert.

Jackson Street Updates

Repairs are underway to Jackson Street, which is an MDOT-owned highway stretching from Highway 51 to I-55.

Ridgeland Public Works Director Mike McCollum said the project was halted for a short time due to work on Colony Park Boulevard.

CELEBRATE FOUNDING

Jackson alumnae members of the national Alpha Chi Omega collegiate sorority recently met for a luncheon to celebrate the founding of the fraternity in 1885. Alpha Chi Omega currently has more than 280 alumnae chapters across the United States and is a member of the National Panhellenic Conference.


Good news is right here

The TV and newspapers bring us a lot of news, but, for the most part, it is devastating – shootings, murder, fire in apartments, explosions on the highway and all kinds of drug problems – just to name a few. However, seldom do they report good news. I do wish that some day the TV might have a two minute pause for good news three times a week.


Membership party

Friends of the USA International Ballet Competition annual membership party will be held Thursday, November 15, 6 to 8 p.m. in the home of Rob and Phoebe Pearigen.
