Road projects in county overview

Madison County engineer Dan Gaillet says he was hired to “pave roads and move traffic,” and he hopes to accomplish both with several road projects that are underway in the county.

“We are looking at short term, midterm and long-term projects to accomplish those goals,” Gaillet said. “We have a number of road projects underway.”

Summer is nearly here, and boaters are eager to get back out on the water at the Ross Barnett Reservoir.

However area residents need to be patient a bit longer as officials work to determine when the Pelahatchie Bay will reopen, according to Bobby Cleveland, Pearl River Valley Water Supply District (PRVWSD) spokesman.



St. Dominic's president stepping down

(May 21, 2019,  Jackson, Miss.) Claude W. Harbarger, FACHE, has informed St. Dominic’s leadership, medical staff and employees of his intention to retire as the President of St. Dominic Health Services, Inc. (SDHS or St. Dominic’s) effective June 30, 2019 after having served the St. Dominic’s organization for the past 32 years.

Airport land annexation hearing scheduled Jan. 24; two cities want property

The first scheduled hearing in the annexation case involving the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport is slated for January 24.

Two cities, Flowood and Pearl, are attempting to annex land surrounding Jackson-Evers, in what city of Jackson officials call a “tax grab.”
