Miss Fordice and Payne to exchange wedding vows February 23 in Vicksburg service

Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Lloyd Fordice of Vicksburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Louise Fordice, to Thomas Bruce Payne III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bruce Payne Jr. of Madison. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Governor of Mississippi, the Hon. Daniel Kirkwood Fordice Jr.

Rotary fellow

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School’s football team held its end-of-year banquet to celebrate a winning season that saw the Saints advance to the 3A playoffs for just the second time in school history.



Royal Rendezvous

Royal Rendezvous is the Junior Auxiliary of Madison County’s (JAMC) largest charity event that helps raise funds for annual projects and programs to help serve the children and community of Madison County. The 2019 Spirit of the Crown recipient is Mayor Mary Hawkins Butler.



Named Fellow

David C. Davis of Madison, associate professor of history at Millsaps College, has been named the Arthur Vining Davis Foundation’s International Perspectives Faculty Fellow for the 2018-19 academic year. He will teach in the fall of 2018 a seminar at Millsaps focused on local identities in the global village.


Outreach

The Rotary Club of North Jackson recently welcomed Anne LeBreton, outreach coordinator for Mississippi Blood Services as its speaker. LeBreton thanked the club for their past support and explained the need to donate blood.


Jaguar spirit

Madison Central High School hosted its annual senior Class Day awards presentation recently. The Jaguar Spirit Award is presented to those students who have shown exceptional dedication, love, and school spirit for Madison Central through their participation and unselfish support of the school and its extracurricular activities.


The Great Kapok Tree Bees

St. Richard third grade students presented a play based on the book The Great Kapok Tree while studying biomes. Students created the set and their costumes for the play based on their research of plants and animals in the Amazon Rainforest. Participating were (from left) Mayce Laird, Kylie Grace Talley, and Erin Wynter.


Awarded scholarship

The Harmon and Faye Bowman Memorial Scholarship is awarded to two senior high students at Jackson Academy who indicate the promise of success in personal endeavors through leadership potential and an entrepreneurial spirit.
