New mixed-use development planned for Madison featuring businesses and housing

Work will soon be under way on a new mixed-use development in Madison, which is designed to have the feel of a historic downtown neighborhood.

The Village at Madison will be located off Main Street near the police department and will be home to the newest Half Shell Oyster House location.






Renaissance construction

Construction is on track for the second and third phases of Renaissance, complete with a show fountain and Malco theater.

Phase two of Renaissance is projected to be complete sometime this summer or early fall.

The Costco portion of phase three and four should be complete by next summer.

, Jackson Academy senior, was recognized as a semifinalist in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. McCormack will continue in competition to be a finalist for Merit Scholarship awards that will be offered next spring. She is the daughter of Kimberly McCormack of Jackson and Jess and Mark McCormack of Madison.


More Training for Billing

A private contractor is coming back on to ensure city of Jackson employees can operate the city’s water/sewer billing software.

Recently, the Jackson City Council approved bringing on Origin Consulting LLC to train employees to operate the new billing system put in place as part of the city’s $91 million system overhaul.



Dry bones

Local author Jeanhee Kang was the guest speaker at a recent luncheon of the Madison-Ridgeland Rotary Club. Kang, author of “Meegook: Dry Bones” discussed the challenges she faced in her youth as she sought to educate herself and deal with being an outcast before she arrived in America and became a successful businesswoman.


Audrey Harper

daughter of Cory and Heidi Harper, made the Carnegie Hall Honors Performance Series. She’s the granddaughter of Phil and Mary Evelyn Harper of Madison and Larry and the late Patsy Foote of Madison.




John Vanderloo

John Vanderloo, M.D., a family medicine physician, was recently named a Doctor of Distinction by the Mississippi State Medical Association. MSMA Doctors of Distinction are named after they complete the full course of the MSMA Physician Leadership Academy, which trains them to be leaders and advocates.
