Auditors recently wrapped up an investigation of the Jackson Zoo’s finances, and one thing is clear, Beth Poff took one for the team.

Poff is the park’s former executive director. She resigned from the position last year after admitting to misusing $350,000 in state bond funds to cover operations.

Reservoir officials declare state of emergency to help stop spread of Salvinia

The Pearl River Valley Water Supply District (PRVWSD) board has issued a state of emergency due to the presence of the invasive aquatic plant giant Salvinia, which is spreading in Pelahatchie Bay. This is the second time the plant has been found in the Ross Barnett Reservoir.

Airport land annexation hearing scheduled Jan. 24; two cities want property

The first scheduled hearing in the annexation case involving the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport is slated for January 24.

Two cities, Flowood and Pearl, are attempting to annex land surrounding Jackson-Evers, in what city of Jackson officials call a “tax grab.”








Ridgeland’s farmers’ market slated to end in December extended because of success

The city of Ridgeland’s weekly farmers’ market, True Local Market, has been extended into the new year.

True Local Market began in October and was expected to run through the end of December 2018. However, due to the success of the market, it will continue.
