Camp scholarships

The Eddie Hodges Scholarship Foundation Trust, a part of the Community Foundation for Mississippi, presented $15,000 to the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra for student scholarships to the Premier Orchestral Institute.  The POI will be held in June and is a summer camp for student musicians.  Scholarships have been awarded yearly since 1959 to students to attend music camps.  A total of $227,895.58 has been awarded since its inception.  Shown are (from left, back) Jean Bush, Charlotte McNeel, Michael Beattie, CEO of the MSO, Deery Walker; (front) Pat Evans and Cheryl Welch.
