WellsFest — Jackson’s original music festival organized by Wells United Methodist Church — is the recipient of the 2019 Governor’s Initiative for Volunteer Excellence (GIVE) Award for Outstanding Achievement in Community Building. WellsFest was nominated for the award by Robert Langford, executive director of Operation Shoestring. Heather Hensarling, Anthony Tonkel Puckett, Monica Ritchie, Malcolm White and Raphael Semmes. The 2019 WellsFest will include four events in one week — WellsFest Art Night Tuesday September 24, WellsFest Golf Tournament Wednesday September 25, and the WellsFest 5K Run/Walk and Music and Children’s Festival Saturday September 28 at Jamie Fowler Boyll Park on Lakeland Drive.
