Highland VillageBy MARIE HAYDEN,
Special to the Sun
You may have noticed a buzz surrounding Jackson’s long-time favorite shopping and entertainment center, Highland Village. While there are many reasons for that, one of them stands 5 feet 2 inches tall (depending on the hair) with a down-to-business yet welcoming demeanor, charming wit and enviable style. Lynsie Armstrong is killing the game, as the kids say, in her new role as marketing director for Highland Village.
As if we needed more reasons to love Highland Village; Bravo!, Maison Weiss, Buffalo Peak, Deep South Pops, just to name a few, with monthly events like Trivia, Fam Friday and Bend and Brew, the Village is hoppin’.
I caught up with Lynsie to get the scoop on all the excitement at The Village and also for some fun rapid-fire questions.
On a scale of one to ten, how excited are you about life right now?
Definitely a 10. 2018 is going to be a great year, in fact, I’ve decided it’s my year of celebration.
What’s your all time favorite movie?
Pass. I could never choose one.
Name a book that shaped you?
“Little Women” is my favorite book. I read it for the first time in the second grade and immediately resonated with Jo. Her love of books and storytelling captivated me.
Coffee or tea?
Coffee, always…black. Deep South Pops is my go-to spot.
Best gift you’ve ever received?
My family has always valued experiences over tangible gifts. We’re always looking for ways to share adventures with one another. I feel like it’s given me a unique perspective on life. Travel, food, hospitality, it’s all an experience to give away and to share. That’s one of my favorite parts of being marketing director at Highland Village - I’m helping create memories for people to share.
What’s your favorite thing about Jackson?
I’m a foodie and so I’m obsessed with Jackson’s local food scene. It’s never been better. It’s what puts us on the map.
Heels or flats?
I’m all about the heels. I’m rarely without them. They make me feel put together.
Best way to destress?
Truffle fries, red wine and live music in the out of doors make for the perfect evening. When warmer temps roll in, I can be found at the Rooftop Bar at Old Capitol Inn, or in the courtyard at Highland Village engrossed in a good book.
What do you love most about your job?
Hosting events brings so much joy. It’s been fun watching them grow in popularity. We have a loyal following now and it feels like family. In a way, the courtyard at Highland Village feels like my own backyard. I feel so lucky to get to throw soirees and host parties that everyone looks so forward to. It’s really spectacular to see this community of people enjoying good food, great company and laughter.
