Chisholm, Horan wed at First Baptist Church

Sara Frances Chisholm and Hayden McKay Horan were united in marriage in a candlelight service February 10 at First Baptist Church in Jackson.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Haack Chisholm. She is the granddaughter of Rhynehardt Eugene Neubert and the late Cecelia Neubert and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Andrew Chisholm of Houston, Texas.

Dr. Horan is the son of Melissa McKay Townes and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Kevin Horan, all of Grenada. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ben F. Horan and Jo McKay, all of Water Valley and the late Hal Samuel McKay, of Bruce.

The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Bruce Warf. Nuptial music was presented by James Arrington Goff, organist; Eva Hart, pianist; Terry Miller, trumpeter; and Brittnye Aven, vocalists. Scripture was read by Lauren Raphael Sigh. Program attendants were Elizabeth Clementine Neubert and Katherine Cecelia Neubert, cousins of the bride.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore an A-line gown of silk white mikado featuring a v-neckline and a couture bow on the back that flowed into the chapel train and complemented by a fingertip, Alencon lace trimmed veil. The bride carried a cascading bouquet of white hydrangeas, ranunculus, veronicas, patience garden roses and phalaenopsis orchids. The stems were wrapped with the floral lace and satin belt of her mother’s wedding gown. Tucked into her bouquet was an heirloom vintage lace handkerchief that has been carried by four generations of Chisholm brides.


Matrons of honor were Meagan McNeil McCoy and Mary Virginia Parham. Bridesmaids were Beatty Kathryn Carpenter, Kelly Holtsinger Chisholm, Lucille Quinn Davis, Katherine Nicholson Frierson, Elizabeth Lowry Harper, Avery Meurrier Larson, Morgan Katherine McNeel, Katherine Love Garraway Owen, with junior bridesmaids Ella Brooke Horan and Lilly Carlyle Horan, sisters of the bridegroom. They wore champagne sateen gowns, featuring a jewel neck and keyhole back. The bridesmaids carried English hand tied bouquets of white hydrangeas, bridal roses and phalaenopsis orchids.

Flower girls were Mary Clayton Horan and McCulley Hart Horan, sisters of the bridegroom. They wore halos of white ginestra wax flowers and bridal white spray roses. They carried pomanders of bridal white spray roses that were topped with lace flowers from the mother of the bride’s wedding dress.

The bridegroom’s brother, Payne Christian Horan, was best man. Groomsmen were William Harrison Bryant, Andrew Rhynehardt Chisholm, Alex Christopher Collum, Benjamin Edward DeHart, Everett Gregory Dyre, Houston Michael Harper, Christopher Adam Liberto, Larry Gregory Manley III, Robert Craig Pyron Jr, Brandon Chase Sivley, William Paul Weghorst III. Junior groomsman was Hayes Alexander Horan, brother of the bridegroom.


Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the South Warehouse. The DMP Band from Memphis provided the music.

On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom’s parents hosted the wedding party, family and friends with a rehearsal dinner at The Iron Horse Grill. The day before the wedding, an elegant bridesmaids’ luncheon was held at the Fairview Inn.
