Mary Blair Johnson and Benjamin Scott McCreary exchanged vows May 19 at Oxford-University United Methodist Church in Oxford officiated by the Rev. Carter Crenshaw.
The bride is the daughter of Mary John Johnson of Ridgeland and William Blair Johnson of Madison. She is the granddaughter of Dorothy Gwin Harpole Gilliland of Coldwater and the late John Franklin Gilliland IV, and Mr. and Mrs. William Frank Johnson of Jackson.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Scott McCreary of Baldwyn. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Odell Roberts of Baldwyn and Ethel Jean McCreary of Baldwyn and the late Claude McCreary.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore an off-the-shoulder ivory gown with scalloped edges of illusion netting that framed her neckline and open back. The gown was adorned with a pearl and crystal waist belt and a silk chapel-length train of Chantilly lace. She carried a white rose bouquet with hints of blush from white O’Hara garden roses accented by dusty miller and eucalyptus. The bouquet was wrapped in a monogrammed handkerchief from her late maternal grandfather’s collection.
Matron of honor was Heather Hines. Bridesmaids were Marita Ellis, Morgan Geary, Sara Hazard, Kellie Johnson, Britanny Mortimer, Mary Margaret Lee, Katie Nalty, Yancy Popicg, Anne Eastland Richardson, Julia Morgan Sandifer, Maggie Tidwell and Tara Hallie Ware. The bridal party also included Mary Brook Ewing, Gresham Meek, Emily Monsour and Sarah Ellen Southern.
The bridegroom’s father was best man. Groomsmen were Tanner Gaines, Rustin Gaines, Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, Will Johnson, Brody McCreary, Hughes Mortimer, Kent Mortimer, Wiley Mortimer, Clay Ormon and Milton Scales.
Vocalists were Pryor Buford Lampton and Lee Buford Threadgill. Organist was Jason Derrick. Scripture readers were Elizabeth Gwin Koestler, Leesa Marie Koestler Harris and the crucifer was Price Horner. Program attendants were Lil Hines, Abby Horner and Alise McCreary. Lee Pryor Uhlhorn was wedding director.
On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Chancellor House. Following the marriage ceremony, the bride’s family hosted a reception at The Jefferson. Music was provided by DMP Band.
After a wedding trip to Turks and Caicos, the couple is at home in Nashville. The bride is associated with Triumph Bank and the bridegroom is vice president of Green Mountain Transportation.
