Miss Cole, McPherson planning June 16 wedding service at Grove Park Inn

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hunt Cole Jr. of Jackson announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Jane Cole, to Jones Poindexter McPherson, son of Mr. and Mrs. John William McPherson Jr. of Indianola.

 The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dalton McBee of Greenwood, and the late Mrs. Hubert Gardner and the late Tom Hunt Cole of New Albany. The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Richmond Lewis Scott Poindexter Jr. of Inverness, and Mrs. John William McPherson and the late Mr. McPherson of Indianola.

Miss Cole is a 2008 honor graduate of Jackson Preparatory School. She was graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mississippi in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in accountancy. At Ole Miss, she was a member of Chi Omega sorority and Phi Kappa Phi honor society. She received her master of accountancy degree from the University of Mississippi in 2013. She is a Certified Public Accountant and senior financial reporting analyst with the Allenberg Cotton division of the Louis Dreyfus Company in Memphis.

McPherson is a 2007 graduate of Indianola Academy. He was graduated cum laude from Mississippi State University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in international business and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish. At Mississippi State, he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. In 2014 he received his master of business administration degree from Else School of Management at Millsaps College. He is a partner with JJ Brothers LLC, which owns Lost Pizza restaurants in Memphis and the Jackson area.


The couple will exchange vows June 16 at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C.





Robert H. Watson will receive Mississippi College’s Award of Excellence at the university’s 2018 homecoming.

Activities include an October 26 awards banquet at Anderson Hall.
