Miss Hurtado and Morrison to exchange marriage vows October 27 in Vicksburg


Laura Daniel and Michael Murphy along with Mr. and Mrs. Armando Hurtado announce the engagement of their daughter, Amber Elizabeth Hurtado, to James Russell Morrison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Russell Morrison III of Vicksburg.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of James Hankins and the late Marian Hankins of Jackson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Fabio Hurtado of Pereira, Colombia.

Miss Hurtado was graduated with honors from both Madison Central High School and the University of Mississippi where she received her bachelor’s degree in managerial finance. She also studied international business and Spanish at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in Spain. Miss Hurtado is the director of marketing at Ancillary Medical Services in Ridgeland. She also acts as a sales representative for medical devices and healthcare products throughout the southeast region.

The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Russell Morrison Jr. of Vicksburg and Mr. and Mrs. Garry Ronald Coleman of Highlands Ranch, Colo.

Morrison was graduated valedictorian of Vicksburg High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Virginia in 2007 and his master’s of business administration from the Else School of Management at Millsaps College in 2012. He was also awarded the Charles H. Sewell Award for Outstanding M.B.A. student at the Else School. Morrison is a Certified Financial Planner and a senior portfolio advisor with the Fenelon Group at Merrill Lynch in Ridgeland. He is also the founder and CEO of S.O. TEREC, a social enterprise partnered with Mississippi Food Network to fight hunger in Mississippi.


The couple will exchange vows October 27 at Crawford Street United Methodist Church in Vicksburg. A reception will follow at the B’nai B’rith Literary Club. The couple will live in Jackson after the wedding.
