Miss Meeks and Lyons planning January 19 wedding at The Chapel at Livingston

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Eugene Meeks of Ridgeland announce the engagement of their daughter, Dr. Mary Claire Meeks, to Phillip Christian Lyons, son of Dr. and Mrs. Alfred Gordon Lyons of Flowood.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Jackson Parker of Smackover, Ark. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Terrence Eugene Meeks of El Dorado, Ark.

Dr. Meeks is a 2007 graduate of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School and was presented by the Debutante Club of Mississippi in 2008. She is a 2011 magna cum laude graduate of Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She also earned a master’s in biomedical science from the University of Mississippi in 2012 and a doctor of medicine from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2017. She is a second year psychiatry resident at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Eugene King of Raymond and the late Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Peresich Lyons of Biloxi.

Lyons is a 2008 graduate of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School and received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Rhodes College in 2013 where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He also earned his master’s in wildlife biology from the University of Georgia in 2018. He is associated with the United States Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Wildlife Services Division.


The couple will exchange vows January 19 at The Chapel at Livingston.
