Miss Owen and Swindle planning June 16 wedding in Flora ceremony

Mr. and Mrs. Doug Owen of Flora announce the engagement of their daughter, Meredith Jameson Owen, to Lee Chaulker Swindle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wade Swindle of Eupora.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Gwen and Jim Reeves of Jackson,and the late Marie Slifka and Raymond Owen of Memphis. The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Carolyn and James Pogue of Eupora, and the late Faye and Rexal Swindle of Eupora.

Miss Owen is a 2010 graduate of Jackson Preparatory School, and a 2014 graduate of Stetson University in DeLand, Fla. At Stetson, she was a four-year softball letterman, an All American softball player, as well as a Hammer Strength All American in strength and conditioning. She owns Meredith’s Ace Fastpitch and is a fitness trainer at Coyote Crossfit, both in Madison.

Swindle is a 2005 graduate of Eupora High School, 2007 graduate of Meridian Community College, and a 2010 graduate of Mississippi State University. At Meridian, Swindle was named to the All American baseball team. He went on to pitch for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. He is a sales representative for Stribling Equipment of Richland.


The couple will exchange vows June 16 at the home of Miss Owen’s parents with a reception to follow.


Robert H. Watson will receive Mississippi College’s Award of Excellence at the university’s 2018 homecoming.

Activities include an October 26 awards banquet at Anderson Hall.
