Miss Williams and Griffin planning September 2 wedding in North Carolina

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Edwin Williams of Ridgeland announce the engagement of their daughter, Marie Elise Williams, to Charles David Griffin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Howard Griffin of Houston, Texas.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Alexander Swayze II of Jackson, Mrs. Bayard Taylor Van Hecke and the late Mr. Van Hecke of Charlotte, N.C., Mrs. William Bardwell Williams and the late Mr. Williams of Caledonia. The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Victor Truman Griffin of Pasadena, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. David Timlin of Houston, Texas.

Miss Williams is a 2009 graduate of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School. She was graduated magna cum laude from the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College at the University of Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. At Ole Miss, she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. Miss Williams received her master’s of social work from the University of Tennessee in 2017. She is a licensed master social worker in Nashville.

Griffin is a 2006 graduate of Memorial High School in Houston. He attended the University of Texas at San Antonio with a focus in philosophy. The prospective bridegroom serves as the admissions operations manager at JourneyPure, a substance abuse disorder treatment corporation headquartered in Nashville.


The couple will exchange vows September 2 at the Farm at Old Edwards Inn in Highlands, N.C.
