Pearson, Lause wed at First Presbyterian

A service of worship celebrating the marriage of Grace Brooks Pearson and Scott Michael Lause was held December 1 at First Presbyterian Church at 6 p.m.  The ceremony was officiated by the Reverend David Felker.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Franklin Pearson of Jackson. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Francis Jefferson Lundy and the late William Norwood Lofton, and the late Mr. Lundy, all of Jackson, and Mrs. James Denton Pearson and the late Mr. Pearson of Cleveland. 

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Francis Lause of St. Louis. He is the grandson of Catherine Paust Moore and the late  Edward John Hellman of St. Louis and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Francis Lause of Washington, MO.

The sanctuary was filled with flowers of white. Hydrangeas, lilies, roses, lisianthus, snapdragons, larkspur, and bells of Ireland surrounded by lemon leaf and magnolia made up the central arrangement. Cascading flowers under the single candle holders included hydrangea and garden roses with magnolia providing the backdrop for them. Nuptial music was presented by Dr. William Wymond, organist; Darcie Bishop, trumpeter; Shelly Louise Brown, violinist; John Sinclair, cellist; and Pryor Buford Graeber and Lee Buford Threadgill, vocalists.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a couture gown of silk white beaded embroidered lace. The gown featured a sweetheart neckline with tulle off the shoulder straps and a chapel train. The gown was complemented by a cathedral veil of sheer illusion, trimmed with a scalloped border of matching lace which had been worn by her sister. Her bouquet was a hand-gathered collection of white peonies, garden roses, roses, spray roses, and stephanotis.

Attending the bride as matron of honor was her sister, Anna Pearson Gresham. Bridesmaids were Toy Elizabeth Gathings, Lauren Huddleston Grayson, Sara Stevens Hazard, Mackenzie Moussa Lewis, Jemison Matthews Lutken, Laura Cole McPherson, Sarah Ford McVey, Laura Cate May Permenter, Yancy Love Popicg, Veazey Tramel Reindl, Julia Morgan Stone Sandifer, Shannon Buell Seale, Caroline Cowan VanDevender, and Laney Mayfield Williams. 

They wore winter white high halter gowns of luxe chiffon. Their bouquets were filed with white peony, garden roses, spray roses, and green hypericum berries all hand-tied and wrapped with white ribbon and held together with pearl pins.

Honorary bridesmaids were Hannah Richardson Dean, Margaret Riley Tidwell, and Lauren Myer Yerger. Serving as program attendants were her cousins, Emily Lynn Hays and Mary Page Pearson.

The bridegroom’s brother, Andrew Edward Lause, served as best man. Groomsmen were Peter Bernard Bearman, John Marion Engler III, Thomas George Gresham Jr., Stephen Laurence Gordon Jr., James Randall Jefferson Jr., Steven Tyler Johnson, Bradford Drew Koeneman, Joseph Mims McLennan, Alexander Parker Morley, Gregory Wells Sandifer, John Culling Slaughter, George Edward Stephenson, Carl Stewart Thach, and Charles Palmer Threadgill. Ushers were Daniel Louis Brown, Graham Withers Kalish, and William McPherson Ware.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Country Club of Jackson where guests danced to the music of Al Paris and the Heartbreakers. The couple is now at home in St. Louis.
