It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anastasia Tattis Batte, who departed this life on May 20, 2025, at the age of 68. Anastasia was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, whose warmth, kindness, and love touched the lives of all who knew her.
Born on March 4, 1957, to Anthony and Frankie Tattis, Anastasia grew up in Jackson where she attended Jackson Public Schools and graduated from Millsaps College. She was married to Richard C. Batte for 25 years and they had two daughters, Stacy and Rachel. After graduating from Millsaps, she worked at her father's accounting practice for several years and then left to be a homemaker and rear her two daughters. Later, she operated O.K. Batte Cleaners with her husband until its sale. Following their divorce, she worked for the State of Mississippi in Mental Health Resources. She retired to Grantville, Ga. in 2020 to be with Rachel and her cherished grandchildren until her passing.
Anastasia never met a stranger and her connections ran deep. Her home was always a haven of love and kindness. She invented the term "First Responders" before the term existed, for wherever there was someone in need, she was the first one to help in any way possible. Although taken too soon, her love and legacy lives on through those she has touched.
Anastasia is survived by her daughter, Rachel Batte Dow; grandchildren, Noah and Anna Kate Reed, Hayes Jordan, Ella Fortner and Charlie Dow; sisters, Ellen Hontzas and Naomi Ridgway, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Stacy Reed.
A private memorial service to honor and celebrate Anastasia's life will be held in the future to remember the joy and light she brought into the world. The family would like to thank Georgia Hospice Care for the special love and attention given Anastasia the past five months.
"Though gone from our sight, Anastasia's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her."
May Her Memory be Eternal.
