The Jackson-Hinds Library System Board of Directors has hired a search firm that specializes in recruiting for library administration to find qualified candidates who could become the system’s next executive director.
The board approved hiring Bradbury Miller Associates of Canton, Ohio, which has provided executive-level search services since 1983 for North American libraries, at a cost of $33,000.
The firm’s website, bradburymiller.com, lists libraries in 37 states where it has done work.
The Jackson-Hinds Library System announced the resignation of Floyd Council as the system’s executive director on Oct. 29. Council had filled that position since March 2022.
The search for a new director is expected to take about four months, said Morgan Hedglin, interim executive director. Hedglin, who has a bachelor’s in communication from the University of Alabama and a master’s in library science from the University of Southern Mississippi, previously was deputy director of the system.
A description for the executive director position has not yet been posted, she said.
“We are working with the search firm to craft a description,” she said.
Hedglin, who was appointed by the board during a called meeting on Oct. 30, will remain in place until after the search is completed.
