The bride is the daughter of Ambassador and Mrs. John R. Bolton of Bethesda. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jackson Bolton of Baltimore, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Earl Smith of Kansas City.

The bride’s mother added seed pearls to the lace and wore the dress for her own wedding. The high neckline, keyhole open back and wide satin ribbon at the waist, added by her mother, completed the gown’s look. Her bouquet featured large black magic red roses, blue delphinium, light blue snapdragons, and greenery wrapped with ivory satin ribbons.
Attending the bride were Erika Bower of Palo Alto, Andriana Diez of New York, Casey Held of Nashville, Elisabeth Hill of New York, Berry Kennedy of Nashville Marisa Kololyan of New York, Rohini Rao of Rye, N.Y., and sister of the bridegroom, Morgan Bush Scott of Birmingham. The bridesmaids wore flowing navy-blue gowns and carried hand-tied bouquets of red spray roses, hydrangeas, light blue tweedia and snapdragons.

The couple chose to have the congregation join them in singing two of their favorite hymns, “Praise My Soul, the King of Heaven” and “Here I Am, Lord,” accompanied by the organist and musicians.
After the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a cocktail hour in the gardens near the church. As guests arrived, they were served an assortment of hors d’oeuvres, including Raspberry Point Oysters, Chesapeake Blue Point Oysters, Sweet Jesus Oysters, jumbo boiled shrimp, mini-Maryland crab cakes, ceviche, and flutes of champagne.
The cocktail hour was followed by a seated dinner for more than 200 guests. The dinner menu included Cajun gumbo served over rice, pear and walnut salad with a choice of balsamic or Crechale’s comeback dressing, roasted asparagus, grilled flank steak, portobello mushrooms with creamy spinach filling, and plum tomatoes. Desserts included assorted fruit tarts, crème filled piroulines made in Mississippi, and a three-tier white chocolate mousse wedding cake embellished with white fondant roses.

The couple’s first dance was to “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me).” The bride and her father danced to “What a Wonderful World” and the bridegroom and his mother danced to “Momma Don’t Dance and Daddy Don’t Rock and Roll.” The late-night party continued at the “Hip Flask Rooftop Bar” in the Marriott Bethesda Downtown. The following morning friends and family were invited to a Goodbye Brunch at the Seventh State Restaurant.
On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom’s parents hosted a Welcome Party at the terraces of the historic Old Angler’s Inn located on the banks of the Potomac River. A slide show of the couple’s activities from their youth through Yale college days was viewed along with celebrating toasts offered.
In mid-January, the bride and her attendants gathered in Alta, Utah for a long weekend of celebration, snow skiing and planning for her upcoming June wedding. The bridegroom and his groomsmen began their wedding celebration in the spring with a pheasant hunting weekend near Nebo, Ill., and concluded their plans during a deep-sea fishing trip from Nags Head.
After a wedding trip to Australia and New Zealand, the couple will be at home in Whitley Bay in Northern England where they are associated with Nissan.
