Jackson accepting bids for Riverside Drive work; future of trees unknown

Good news for Belhaven residents and others who travel along Riverside Drive: the city of Jackson is moving ahead with plans to improve Riverside Drive.
Sealed bids for the project are being accepted through Aug. 31 at 3:30 p.m. at the city clerk’s office at Jackson City Hall.

USDA to permanently boost food stamp benefits by 25 percent

(Jackson, Miss.) – Mississippians receiving benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will see their benefits increase twenty-five percent (25%) over pre-pandemic benefit levels and this increase will go into effect starting October 1, 2021.

City approves Belhaven’s petition for establishing improvement district

The petition of signatures that the Greater Belhaven Foundation submitted to the city of Jackson in May for the establishment of a Community Improvement District received a thumbs up.
“The city clerk has verified the signatures,” said Casey Creasey, executive director of the foundation.
