From the moment when he first descended the elevator to enter the political arena about a decade ago, Trump's statements and policies have been adamantly opposed by the left. They cannot stand that an accomplished, successful businessman is critiquing their efforts.
In the first 100 days of his second term in office, Trump's DOGE team has uncovered billions of dollars in waste and fraud in the government. That was using a businesslike common-sense approach to government expenditures. An example of the left's governmental inefficiency which has just come to my attention is the Obama Presidential Library under construction in Chicago. This building has been under construction for many years. It is considerably delayed from its completion timetable and is way over its financial budget. Locals say that for every dollar spent, 50 cents go for corruption. Trump has offered to find an efficient builder for them. Don't hold your breath on their acceptance!
The left continually reverts to their old criticism that Republicans promote tax cuts for the benefit of millionaires and billionaires. How can that be true when a current thrust of Republican policy is to eliminate tax on tips, overtime, and social security? Those items are of little interest to the wealthy but are important to the working class and less affluent citizens. Trump's tariff program has been applauded by the US auto workers union (working men) because it will bring more auto business into the country. Further, several Democratic politicians can be classified as rich. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has net worth of approximately $3.5 billion.
Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia is reported to have a net worth of over $215 million. Bernie Sanders, one of the prominent liberals who campaigns with AOC, is a millionaire three times over, and has three houses, including a vacation home in joint ownership with his wife. In 2017 and 2018 he made profits of over one million dollars each year on book sales. And yet Sanders continuously campaigns against the rich, while also renting a private jet for his travels. Of course he has an excuse. Reminds me of California Governor Gavin Newsom back at the time of the covid lockdown when he invited his affluent friends to an expensive dinner at the exclusive French Laundry restaurant in California's wine country. "Rules for thee but not for me!"
Many Democrats take sides with the illegals which include many criminals and gangsters. For starters "undocumented aliens" as they prefer to call them, have broken the immigration laws--they are law breakers. Many protestors in the Ivy League universities are law breakers and not even students but are supporting the illegal disruption of Jewish students' way of life. They are breaking Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act which states that "no person shall be subject to discrimination because of race, color, or national origin." As I write, Columbia University once again has been invaded by protestors who have taken over the library at a time when most students are studying for their finals. Often these disruptors are merely given a slap on the wrist by liberal judges.
As an aside let me say that we all are aware of the prohibition of "cruel and unusual punishment." But what should happen if there is a "cruel and unusual CRIME?" Gilbert, of Gilbert and Sullivan light opera fame, in his opera Mikado said: "let the punishment fit the crime." The crimes committed in Gaza on October 7 by Hamas were certainly cruel and unusual. The protestors mentioned above should know the details of those crimes before they promote hostilities against Jews. The fitting punishment for the promotors of Title VI actions against Jews should certainly be more than a mere slap on the wrist.
