The 58th Dixie National Livestock Show and Rodeo is underway at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds. Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson invites the public to attend the multiple livestock and equine shows scheduled to take place over the next month. The upcoming Fired Up Team Roping event begins tomorrow, Saturday, January 28, and runs through Sunday, January 29, in the Kirk Fordice Equine Center.
This team roping competition, which starts at 10:00 a.m. each day, will feature over 300 rodeo competitors from across the nation. There will also be a Dummy Roping Contest for kids at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. This event is free to the public.
Also starting up this weekend are the Junior Round-Up Livestock Shows, which begin Saturday, January 28, and run through Wednesday, February 8. Over 1,500 Mississippi 4-H and FFA youth are expected to exhibit approximately 1,500 head of livestock during this time. The Reserve and Grand Champions of each show will participate in the Junior Sale of Champions on Thursday, February 9. Last year, 46 animals were sold during the 2022 Sale of Junior Champions, grossing a total of $448,500 and setting a new record over the 53-year history of the sale.
Open livestock shows begin Friday, February 10, and conclude Tuesday, February 14. All livestock shows are open to the public.

Events of the 58th Dixie National Livestock Show and Rodeo run through Sunday, February 19, 2023. The Dixie National Rodeo, the largest rodeo east of the Mississippi River, takes place Friday, February 10, through Sunday, February 12, and again Wednesday, February 15, through Saturday, February 18, inside the Mississippi Coliseum at the State Fairgrounds.
