Trick-or-treating, movie night, festivals included in halloween activities planned for area
Calling all ghouls and goblins. Halloween is approaching and Northsiders are preparing for trick-or-treating.
Trick-or-treating will take place on October 31. The trick-or-treating hours vary by neighborhood.
While waiting for Halloween to arrive, there are many spooky festivities leading up to the holiday for locals to take part in.
Northpark Mall will host the Howlin’ and Growlin’ pet costume contest on October 24 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Guests can bring their furry friends in costume to participate in the free event.
Entrants must be leashed and licensed. The contest will begin promptly at 6 p.m. Winners will be announced immediately after the contest.
Winning pets will pose for a photo. The winners’ names and photos will be posted to the mall’s social media.
Judging criteria includes the entrant’s costume and behavior, creativity, humor, character, charisma and uniqueness.
The city of Ridgeland will host a Trunk-or-Treat at Freedom Ridge Park on October 25.
From 6 to 8 p.m. children ages 10 and under can trick-or-treat from car to car. Volunteers will be on hand with decorated trunks with candy and prizes, games and face painting.
Looking forward to a movie night? The District at Eastover will host a Halloween movie night on Friday, October 26 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Costumes are encouraged. The District will be screening “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” on the District Green.
Face painting, games and other treats will be available as well.
This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.
LeFleur’s Bluff State Park, Mississippi Children’s Museum and the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science are partnering to present Park after Dark on October 26 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at both museums. One night, one ticket, two museums.
Guests can create creepy crawly crafts, go trick-or-treating through both museums and show off their costumes.
The event promises spooky science and family fun.
From 5 to 7 p.m. on October 26, Highland Village shopping center is hosting Fam Friday Tricks and Treats.
In addition to trick-or-treating, there will be face painting, pumpkin decorating and more.
Costumes are encouraged, and pets are welcome as well.
Boo at the Zoo is scheduled for Friday, October 26 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Fun includes trick or treating candy stops, bounce houses, games, music and Discovery Ambassador animal encounters. Special guest Inky the Clown will also make an appearance.
Food and novelty vendors will be on hand. Plus, there will be spooky Livingston train and endangered carousel rides available for purchase.
Treat Street at the Township at Colony Park will take place on Saturday, October 27 from 4 to 6 p.m.
Treat Street is a family-friendly trick-or-treating event. Everyone is invited to wander through the Township and visit participating businesses. Those taking part will have Treat Street signs in their shop windows.
Costumes are encouraged for trick-or-treating fun.
Some store owners will have discounts during the event as well. The event will not include the Township residential area, just the businesses.
