Ashby Foote and Locke Ward are at it again, cleaning up Jackson with private money, this time at a homeless encampment off of Ridgewood Road where the empty Virginia College building threatens to become the next OYO hotel homeless shelter.
White Creek runs just west of the Virginia College building, providing cover to a sprawling homeless encampment strewn with trash and junk.
Ward plans to clear the thick brush, exposing the encampment and discouraging settlement.
Ward has raised tens of thousands of dollars to beautify Jackson and has completed dozens of projects with the help of private donations and numerous volunteers.
Meanwhile, the City of Jackson has contributed nothing to the effort.
