Jeanne Brown Crasto, 92, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025 to be with the Lord Jesus in Heaven.
Jeanne was born on July 30, 1933 in Union. She graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1951 and the University of Southern Mississippi in 1956. As a testament to her Christian faith, Jeanne served for many years on the staffs of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven and Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
Jeanne moved to the Home Place in Madison in 2018 where she received excellent care and made many new friends. The family would like to thank Sarah Beattie and the wonderful staff at Home Place for the loving kindness extended to Jeanne for the last seven years of her life.
Affectionately known as “Mamaw Jeanne,” she was devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, spending quality time with them baking her “Mamaw’s tea cakes,” playing board games, and assembling puzzles. Her glowing smile and loving personality touched the lives of everyone around her, as she devoted her life to helping others. She was loved and adored by her family and will be dearly missed.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents George Brown Sr. and Ila Brown of Brookhaven, as well as her sister Marilyn Slay of Natchez. Survivors include her brother George Brown Jr. (Judy) of Birmingham, son David Crasto (Beth) of Jackson, son Darren Crasto (Isabel) of Katy, Texas, and daughter Amy Waggoner (Keith) of Mentor, Ohio, as well as nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Brookhaven Funeral Home on August 31 at 1:00 p.m. immediately followed by graveside services at the Easthaven Cemetery where she will be buried next to her mother and father.
