Joseph Morris Capocaccia Jr., born November 19, 1942, in Shelby, Mississippi and raised for numerous years in this “greatest small town in the world,” joined his beloved parents in heaven on January 14, 2025. Joe was the oldest son of Joseph Morris Sr. and Emma Elizabeth Mangialardi Capocaccia.
He is survived by brother John (Johnny) Louis Capocaccia (Evelynn) of Cleveland, Mississippi and younger sister Judy Elizabeth Capocaccia Logue of Pearl, MS along with numerous nephews and nieces including John Louis Capocaccia, Jackie Capocaccia Williamson, Jeffery Capocaccia, Matthew Louis Logue, Joseph Thomas Logue and Jonathan Edward Logue.
Joe started his career at Baxter Medical Supplier in Cleveland, MS where he met and married the love of his life Shirley Boswell (Capocaccia) on November 28, 1963. They were married for more than 60 years, and they called Cleveland, MS their home for over 60 years. They are the proud parents of one daughter Melissa (Missy) Capocaccia Kinkade.
Joe was survived by his wife Shirley, Daughter Missy (Keith) and grandsons Joseph (Shelton) Kinkade and Harper Harris Kinkade of Madison, MS.
Joe worked for Truckline for over 40 years. He had immense pride in his work and a passion that went along with a tremendous work ethic. He was truly adored by his co-workers, and they loved his dedication, vast knowledge of the welding trade and his commitment to perfection. This passion for excellence earned him numerous awards and accolades over the years.
Being a husband, father, and grandfather was Joe’s favorite past time. His love was lavished on Shirley and Missy and on his grandsons, Shelton and Harper. He loved spending his time with his grandsons making as many football, baseball, and soccer practices and games he could. He especially loved deer hunting, duck hunting and fishing with his “boys”. He took the time to nurture, encourage and share his wisdom in all their activities together. They all shared a strong bond never going a single day without speaking to one another. His legacy will be one of playfulness and fun, joy and laughter. His grandsons are the men they are because of their Papa.
Visitation will be at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church, 215 Bishop Road in Cleveland, MS on Saturday, January 18 at 11:00 a.m. with Mass to follow at 12:00 p.m.
The family thanks Dr. Qu, Jackson Oncology Associates, and their caring nurses. We thank so many friends who have reached out to us with condolences and prayer. With love Shirley, Missy, Keith, Shelton and Harper.
