Jackson, MS- The Honorable Judge Henry T. Wingate has scheduled a Status Conference to receive public comments on the proposed rate increase for JXN Water. The Status Conference will be held on June 16, 2025, at 1 PM in the United States District Court, Thad Cochran United States Courthouse, 501 E. Court Street, Jackson, MS.
JXN Water has proposed a rate increase to fully fund the water and sewer system operations, including meeting all the system’s debt obligations. Current rates will only generate enough funding to pay for operations and maintenance. A rate increase will provide the additional revenue needed to make debt payments to meet all requirements of the debt incurred by the City of Jackson for the water and sewer system between 1993 and 2013, JXN Water, under its appointment by the Federal Court, has been required to assume the City’s debt.
The proposed rate increase raises the volumetric charges as recorded by customer’s water meters. The availability fees remain unchanged. The new volumetric rates are as follows:
The average single-family bill will increase from approximately $76 per month to $85 per month. This represents an increase of approximately $0.30 per day for average customers.
JXN Water rates remain competitive and affordable with this increase. A gallon of water delivered to the tap will cost only $0.01 per gallon!
