Patrons of the Jackson Yacht Club Community Sailing Foundation gathered recently at the home of Laura and Mart Lamar in Eastover to support youth and introductory sailing programs. Patrons help support the sailing teams of Madison Central, St. Andrews, Prep, and St. Joe. They also help support First Sail Days for members of the public to try the sport.
Guests included John W. McGowan for whom the youth Sailing Center at JYC is named. Sailing Coach Dale Currie outlined the plans of the foundation to help fund a permanent sailing director’s position to oversee all youth sailing activities, including the sailing camp.
Guests enjoyed an auction of sailing themed paintings and photography by local artists including Charles Guess, Landri Tarbutton, Candy Cain. and photographers Kasi and Tom Beck. Music for the evening featured Keys versus Strings.
