Kristen Drive is on a list of streets compiled by Hinds County Supervisor Robert Graham to be repaved.
“I’m hoping within a month and a half we should be ready to go,” he said of the project to mill and repave all of Kristen Drive.
About $100,000 for the project would come from the 2017 bond issue and $256,000 from the American Rescue Plan Act funds the county received, he said.
“When you use the American Rescue Plan dollars, you have to abide by strict procedures,” Graham said. “You have to dot all of the I’s and cross all the t’s before you’re authorized to proceed. The street work has to be bid out and meet certain criteria.”
Graham said he’s waiting on approvals for 15 streets in District One to be improved, including Briarwood Drive, Meadowbrook Road east of I-55, Highland Meadows Dive and Montbrook Drive.
Graham said he personally views streets throughout his district and takes photos to determine which ones need to be improved. “You can’t pave the wrong street in Jackson,” he said.
A homeowner on a street to be paved should receive a letter from Graham notifying them of the work to be done.
Graham said he has had more than 100 streets in District One repaved since 2016, which amounts to more $6 million in repairs.
