Reconstruction of the roadway is taking place on the southern part of Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland from Business Park Drive to Marketridge Drive.
The project involves replacing curbs, asphalt, striping and lighting. Fresh grass and trees will be planted in the median.
“We are improving the southbound lanes of Highland Colony Parkway by resetting the curbs and increasing the section thickness of the pavement by six inches,” said Ridgeland Mayor Gene McGee.
“Once this section is complete, we will transition the traffic control to the new pavement and do the same thing to the northbound lanes.”
The thickness of asphalt will allow for the use of heavier truck traffic around the commercial park, he said.
“The truck route-approved section will be from West County Line Road to Marketridge Drive,” he said. “This improved section of Highland Colony Parkway will complete the connection in the Commerce Park area.”
The project began in September and is expected to be completed before the summer of 2026.
The project is funded with a loan from the state of Mississippi and will be repaid with the proceeds generated from the Amazon Web Services data center project, McGee said.
Various lane closures will be in place, which may cause some delays. No full detours are required.
Drivers should be cautious and aware of traffic control measures while driving through the construction zone on Highland Colony Parkway.
