On September 11, 2025, the world lost a true one-of-a-kind lady. Laurie Guion passed peacefully in her sleep that morning. An outpouring of love from friends and family followed, and one theme rang clear in their words: she was the most giving woman they knew.
A talented and beautiful person, Laurie devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, friends, and work. She was a straight shooter who never backed down from telling it exactly as she saw it, yet beneath her tough exterior was the heart of a woman who loved fiercely.
Laurie grew up in Benton, the daughter of Bernice Ingram and Carlton Spivey Guion. She split her childhood playing her beloved piano, following old Hollywood stars, and hunting with her father. That diverse upbringing led into a life in music and adventure, living across the country from Portland, Oregon to Mississippi, before finally settling down once she had her two children, Brian Isonhood and Candice Polk Landrum.
Once she became a mother, Laurie’s focus never wavered. She dedicated her life to her family, never missing a day without speaking to them or caring for them in her own special way. This devotion only deepened with her most recent joy—being “Wawa” to her granddaughter Lake, daughter of Candice and Tommy Landrum.
Laurie was also an accomplished pianist, artist, interior designer, and the most organized person you could meet. These talents supported a long career in the legal world as an office manager and paralegal. Most weekends she could be found repainting a room in her lovely home, tending her gorgeous garden, or cooking a delicious meal for her family.
She was the epitome of a true renaissance woman—never meeting a task she couldn’t figure out or master. Laurie gave so much of herself until there was no more to give. She will be forever missed and forever remembered for the love and creative spirit she brought into this world.
In lieu of a traditional funeral, the family will hold a private celebration of life.
