Jennifer Lobos and Charlton Ward, both of Jackson, were united in marriage on Saturday afternoon, January 17 in a small ceremony at The Red Barn in Northeast Jackson, surrounded by family and close friends. Dr. Andy Johnson, uncle of the bridegroom, officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Jeannette Marisol Perez Oliveros and the late Luis Alberto Lobos Bahamondes of Curicó, Chile’.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Ward of Jackson and more recently, Columbus.
The event was inspired by the bride’s Chilean culture and family tradition of having two ceremonies, a civil ceremony in the country of domicile with close friends and family, then a more formal religious ceremony in the bride’s birthplace to honor her family and to further celebrate the union.
Shades of blue and green adorned the tables of this event with white roses and greenery.
The wedding processional began with the flower girl, Annelise Saxton, niece of the bridegroom and the daughter of Madeline and Randall Saxton. She entered to “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You” by Elvis Presley, wearing a pink bishop-style dress embellished with pearls and a white furry stole. She carried a nosegay of white sweetheart roses. The couple then entered for the exchange of vows.
The bride wore a winter white tailored knee-length wrap dress with a blue brooch that belonged to the bridegroom’s grandmother. Her ensemble was finished with navy velvet sling back heels and a bouquet of white roses. The bridegroom wore a navy suit and black wing-tipped shoes.
Following the ceremony, the bridegroom’s father offered a champagne toast celebrating the couple. Friends and family members shared additional toasts and sentiments. The bridegroom was honored for his big heart and the loyalty he shows to the many friends and family who have shaped his life. The bride was praised for her strength, determination, and true “Southern” grit, having built her life in the United States through hard work and becoming a U.S. citizen in 2023.
A reception followed with an assortment of smoked pork sliders with fig, mascarpone, and arugula; farm to table gourmet wedge cheese tray with seasonal fruits; warm brie and corn dip with po-boy crostini; and warm mushroom toast. Iced tea, citrus water, lemonade, sparkling cider and champagne were also served. The reception also featured a dessert table with a buttercream bridal cake topped with roses, a strawberry cake and a German chocolate cake. Other bite-sized desserts were also available along with a coffee bar.
Hosting the event were Angela and Don Ward, Michele and Ottis Ward, Kaye and Bobby Ward, Madeline and Randall Saxton, Gina and Andy Johnson, Kristi and Max Luter, Theresa and Phil Pringle, Carla and Tony Stringer, and Martha and Robbie Toombs.
The bride and bridegroom enjoyed visiting with family and friends who traveled to Jackson to celebrate their wedding.
The newlyweds gifted Chilean wine to their hosts and hostesses, providing a taste of Chile’, since the bride grew up in the wine country of Chile’. The couple left through bubbles and cheers.
A formal ceremony will be held in Chile’ in the near future.
They will make their home in Jackson.
