Jackie is a native of Jackson, Mississippi. She received her bachelor’s degree in art from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and completed graduate work in graphics design from Louisiana Tech in Rustin, LA. Jackie was a talented artist who continued to rank as one of the leading artists in the Southeast, never settling into old patterns. She used drawing as the skeletal framework of her art and pulled in brilliant colors in combination with neutral shades to result in work that was filled with energy and movement. Her work has been shown in Decor magazine, numerous national competitions such as Watercolor USA and the Mississippi, Georgia, and Louisiana Watercolor shows. Her studio and paintings were featured in Mississippi Magazine's Artist Tour. Jackie's paintings are part of the collections of Deposit Guaranty Bank, Mt. Vernon National Park Center in Springfield, MO, the Art Center of Appalachia in Arkansas, and numerous Mississippi corporate collections. She was named as a signature member of the Mississippi Watercolor Society and just recently was chosen as the featured artist for the 28th Gardens of Madison County, supporting Madison Ridgeland Academy.
Jackie enjoyed spending her summers at their vacation home in Highlands, North Carolina for over 14 years where she created treasured family memories. After the death of her beloved husband of 47 years, Jackie settled in Madison and found happiness through time spent with her ladies’ luncheon group, in teaching and participating in many art groups and classes, with her furry companion, Bailey, and in visits with the sweetest neighbors, her dear friends. She was especially treasured by her family and will be greatly missed by all that loved her.
The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MRA Capital Campaign- Rawlings Hall Enrichment Building, 7601 Old Canton Road, Madison, Mississippi 39110 to support the enrichment of children’s lives as Jackie did throughout her life.
