John W. Teel, Jr., 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on October 25, 2022. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. A funeral service for Mr. Teel was held at Broadmoor Baptist Church Chapel in Madison on Friday October 28, 2022. Burial was in Natchez Trace Cemetery.
John Will, as known in his early years, grew up in Mt. Pleasant, MS. He graduated with a Master’s Degree from Miss State University. While serving in the Army in Denver, Co, he met the love of his life Peggy Pounds and were married 53 years. He worked with the USDA Farmers Home Administration for many years. Mr. Teel was an active member of Broadmoor Baptist Church where he enjoyed his church family and friends very much. He served his church in many ways including Sunday School teacher, Deacon, Director of Sunday School and Chairman of the Deacons. He cherished his friendships and enjoyed laughing and joking with everyone. His greatest joys were his grandson Jason, spending time with family and friends, reading and watching Miss State Sports.
Mr. Teel was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Ann Pounds, his parents John William and Mary Teel and his sister Mary Ellen Godsey.
He is survived by his three children, Bryan Teel (Brenda) of Madison, Wendy Schoonover (Mark) of Madison, Polly Tribble (Moose) of Starkville and grandson Jason Tribble. He is also survived by his brothers Carl Teel (Nona) of Jackson, TN and Rex Teel (Cerese) of Starkville and Numerous nieces and nephews. He greatly enjoyed spending time with all of his family.
